BOYCOTT CANWEST GLOBAL'S RACIST DEPICTION OF ARABS AND MUSLIMS

CanWest Media has used it's monopoly to force its centralized editorials and opinions on all of its papers.  See the MediaWatch Section for an example of this abuse...

"The CanWest editorials that you sent are shocking in their racism, ignorance, and stupidity.  Nothing comparable would be tolerated if the targets were not Muslims and Arabs.  If some ultra-fanatic commentator were to write such things, one could dismiss it as an unfortunate aberration, like the rantings of some hysterical anti-Semite.  But when control by a media conglomerate -- which is illegitimate to begin with in a democratic society -- is exploited to force such material on readers throughout the country, it is truly a major scandal, that should be of very general concern."

CATERPILAR HEAVY EQUIPMENT IS USED BY ISRAEL'S ARMY TO COMMIT WAR CRIMES

In the recent invasion of the Palestinian Occupied Territories, hundreds of Palestinian homes have been bulldozed.  Israel's invasion and actions have not only received outcries from throughout the world, but even President Bush demanded an immediate withdrawal... both of which were ignored.

Caterpillar is known around the world for its earthmoving equipment equipment which is now recognized as one of the most destructive of military weapons in Israel's arsenal.  While Caterpillars control over Israels use after sale is diminished, the knowledge with what is occurring after the sale is well-known to the corporation, as such the knowledge of Israels illegal use places a responsibility to PREVENT WAR CRIMES from taking place.

Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention explicitly forbids collective punishment, stating that no resident of an occupied territory may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed. In fact, that is what your bulldozers are being used for -- collective punishment.

We will not go away as a result of CAT's negligence to address our concerns.  We demand a response.  We also urge you to cut off sales to Israel, as the equipment is enabling Israel to commit war crimes.

CANADA REJECTS HUMAN RIGHTS MISSION FACT FINDING MISSION IN PALESTINE.

(Ottawa, Canada - 9/4/2002) - On April 5th 2002, Canada voted to reject an immediate human rights fact-finding mission to Israel headed by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson effectively gives a tactical thumbs-up to Israel's continued war of terror against civilians and refugees.

Canada and Guatemala were the only two countries that voted against the resolution, which condemned "the frightening increase in the loss of life, the invasion of Palestinian cities and villages, the arrest and detention of Palestinians," as well as the suffering of Palestinians and the restrictions on journalists and aid organizations.
